International Flysurfer team rider arrived on the Saturday before the event. We tried our best to get some sessions in but the weather was having none of it. On Wednesday we headed down to Devon to check in ready to start demos and warm up for the competition on Thursday. The weather was horrible with sideways rain and the sea was crashing over the sea wall and onto the road in Westward Ho! Thursday day started slowly with some big weather fronts coming through and more rain. By midday however it had cleared and the wind started blowing. It turned out to be a great day! We got to landboard with Emmanuel testing his new MBS Pro 90 and people hit the water too.
UK rider Chris Walker was there landboarding. Chris Harmer had been down all week for the Wavemasters, and he went out for another ride. Tony McSpadden was down hoping to take his new raceboard out. French Flysurfer rider Laurent Guyot was also there landboarding. I managed a landboard session (my first on the new Pro 90) then headed out for a water session with the Radical 4. Everyone was stoked that evening! It was great to catch up with everybody in the bar later too!
Friday was a little quiet. The wind had disappeared and competitions were called off. On Saturday Greg Chilton and Josh Hough came down too. The land competitions were run and big Flysurfer Speed 3s were out in force! The team did well with Emmanuel and Laurent ending up in the final however the competitions had to be called off when the wind died completely.
That evening the prize giving was held at the Westward Arms and a lot of familiar faces popped up. Everyone is now looking forward to next season! All in all a good event despite the weather.
