Last week the UK’s Team Bridge were out in Oman competing in the Formula Kite World Championship. Olly, Guy and Steph were all riding the SONIC Race, which was proving to be a competitive kite. The World’s best racers were all present, creating one of the most competitive fleets ever. Qualifying went well, with Olly heading into the finals in first position and Guy not far behind in fourth.
As the Final series started, some mistakes, gear failure and bad luck saw Guy drop down the rankings. French riders Nico Parlier and Axel Mazella were Olly’s main rivals, with Nico dominating the racing and taking 1st position.
The women’s event was also perhaps the most competitive it has ever been! Steph spent the week fighting hard ending up in 4th.
Going into the medal races Olly was holding onto his second place but a couple of poor results put him down to third. A podium finish in a fleet this good is no mean feat!
